Easter 2010
Dear Parishioners
The arrival of spring brings a certain freshness to our lives. The days are longer and brighter. Nature reawakes from its winter slumber and provides us with an array of sounds and colours which seems to brighten our lives as we put the dreariness of winter behind us. We get a brand new start.
In the Church, this period brings to us the great and most important feast of the Christian year – the celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour – the day we call, Easter. This is also a time of refreshment as we leave the more heavy season of Lent behind us and look ahead in our journey with the message of Christ rejuvenated in our hearts.
This year, all the celebrations at St Paul’s Church take on a special meaning. The year 2010 marks 200 years of worship in the Anglican Parish of Hampton. This means the Great Feast of Easter has been celebrated 200 times in Hampton within the Anglican family. It is only fitting we continue to rejoice with our ancestors who brought this message of hope and salvation to our area.
I therefore invite you, maybe even implore you, to follow in the footsteps of our Christian pioneers and join us this Easter Season (and throughout the year). As a parish family, we can renew our passion for our Lord by, once again, walking beside Him through the events of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter morning.
Our services will be as follows:
Maundy Thursday 7:30 pm The Last Supper Eucharist
Good Friday 10:30 am We stand at the Cross
Easter Morning 9:00 am Traditional Eucharist
10:30 am Contemporary Eucharist
with drama
May you all be blessed by the Message of the Resurrection.
The Reverend Leo Martin
Rector
